Para Toluenesulfonyl Urea

Para Toluenesulfonyl Urea

Para-Toluenesulfonyl Urea (PTSU), whose molecular formula is C9H10N2O3S, is one of the most demanding chemicals on the market. The powder is white to off-white in appearance with a crystalline form that dissolves in organic liquids such as acetone and ethyl acetate but not in water.

PTSU is often used in organic and medicinal synthesis, where pharmaceuticals and drugs are usually produced. It works as a covering shield from the amines and allows alternative functional groups at the molecular level to react on their own. Another important use of PTSU is as a carbamoylating agent during organic synthesis to obtain amides from amines.

PTSU also finds use in a variety of organic molecules, such as drugs and pharmaceutical compounds, due to its ability to synthesise complex organic molecules with their aid.
